In 1990, Robert De Niro saw Chazz Palminteri’s one-man show “ A Bronx Tal e”, and declared it “one of the greatest one-man shows I’ve ever seen, if not the greatest”. Soon, the two men began working to adapt it into a film, with Palminteri scripting, De Niro directing, and both performing, respectively portraying the adult figures fighting over the destiny of young Calogero.
